Common questions
Pricing, privacy, bank connections, AI categorization, and how WIMM compares to other budgeting apps.
Is WIMM free?
WIMM has a free tier that supports manual transaction entry, CSV/Excel/OFX import, and core budgeting. Premium ($9/mo or $60/yr) unlocks Plaid bank sync, AI categorization, debt reducer, shared household envelopes, and email notifications.
Does WIMM connect to my bank?
Yes — via Plaid, which supports 12,000+ banks in the US. For credit unions or institutions Plaid doesn't cover, you can manually import CSV, Excel, or OFX files. Bank sync is a Premium feature.
Is my financial data safe?
Yes. Plaid access tokens are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. TOTP secrets are encrypted with the same scheme; backup recovery codes are bcrypt-hashed. Passwords use scrypt. Every database query is scoped to your user ID, so no other user can see your data. We do not run ads, sell data, or use behavioral tracking. For the full breakdown, see /security.
Does WIMM share my data?
No. We don't sell data, run ads, or share with third parties. Plaid is the only external service that sees bank-account-level data, and only at your direction.
Can I share a budget with my partner or family?
Yes — household sharing is a Premium feature. Up to 5 members per household. Each member has their own login, and you can share envelopes, bills, and goals.
Does WIMM have a mobile app?
Today WIMM is a responsive web app that works on phones, tablets, and desktop. Native iOS and Android apps are on the roadmap.
Can I import my history from YNAB or Mint?
Yes. Export the transactions CSV from YNAB (Settings → Export Budget Data) or use the CSV you exported from Mint before it shut down, then upload it on the Import page. WIMM auto-detects the major U.S. bank formats (Bank of America, Chase, Wells Fargo, Citi, Amex, Capital One, Discover); for YNAB, Mint, or any other layout, WIMM falls back to a guided column-mapping step so you can map date, description, and amount in a few clicks. See /vs/ynab and /vs/mint for step-by-step switching guides.
How does AI categorization work?
WIMM routes each transaction to one of three AI engines (Claude, GPT-4o, DeepSeek) for category suggestions, then caches the merchant + category mapping so future transactions skip the AI entirely. See /features/ai-categorization for the technical deep-dive.
What if the AI gets a category wrong?
Click to override. WIMM remembers your choice for all future transactions from that merchant.
Does WIMM work offline?
Not today. WIMM is a web app that requires an internet connection to load and sync. A Progressive Web App with read-only offline access to your budgets and recent transactions is on the roadmap, and the native iOS/Android apps will ship with full offline support.
How do I cancel?
WIMM Premium licenses are one-time purchases for a fixed term (monthly or annual). They do not auto-renew, so there is nothing to cancel. Your license stays active for the full term you paid for, then expires unless you choose to purchase another. If you want a refund inside the refund window, see the refund policy below.
What is your refund policy?
WIMM offers a 7-day money-back guarantee on every Premium purchase. If you change your mind within 7 days of paying, email support@wimm.money and we'll refund you in full — no questions asked. Your refund-eligibility window for each license is visible at /account.
How many devices can I use my license on?
Every Premium license activates on up to 3 devices (desktop or laptop). You can deactivate a device from /account at any time to free up a slot if you switch machines or sell hardware.
Do promo codes work with the free trial?
The 14-day free trial doesn't collect a card, so promo codes don't apply during the trial. Promo codes are applied at the /purchase page when you convert from trial to paid — type the code into the "Promo Code" field below the plan picker and click Apply.
What payment methods do you accept?
All payments run through PayPal, which lets you pay with a PayPal balance, a linked bank account, or any major credit/debit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover). You don't need a PayPal account to use the card-only flow.
